October 2026 Mustard Seed - Announcements

10/1/2026

Greetings! Our Faith Education Dinner will start up again on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 5:30pm. We will ease our way into the new program year by watching the 2003 film, Luther. This will give us an overview of the Reformation and life of Martin Luther, which we will be discussing a lot more in our sessions this year.  This dinner is geared toward teens and adults. However, activities will be provided for all ages. Come eat and learn!

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. (John 14:27, NRSV)

In Memory…
 Fred Allegrezza
 May 19, 1958 – September 11, 2026
Please keep the Allegrezza family in your prayers!

The Listening Life: Embracing Attentiveness in a World of Distraction   by Adam S McHugh
"Be quick to listen, slow to speak." James 1:19
“How would our lives change if we approached every experience with the intention of listening first?  Adam McHugh places listening at the heart of our spirituality, our relationships and our mission in the world. Heed the call to the listening life and hear what God is doing in you and the world.
The session for October will be Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 6:00pm; in person/zoom at Faith Lutheran in adult education room.

As we look forward to 2027 we need to start planning financially.  The Preliminary Budget/Pledge Packets have been emailed to you and hard copies are available on the table right outside of the sanctuary.  Included in the packet is a letter from your finance chair, Debbie Hollenbach, the Preliminary Budget for 2027, a Time and Talent Survey, and a Pledge Card for 2027. Parents’ Night Out (PNO) – Youth Fellowship (YF)

After three and a half wonderful years of Faith Evangelical Lutheran church hosting Parents' Night Out - Youth Fellowship (PNO-YF), our monthly program is coming to an end.
This decision was made after careful consideration due to a steady decrease in enrollment, with only two families and four children regularly attending recently. Additionally, our two main teachers, who have dedicated so much love and energy to this program, are aging out and retiring from this role.
We are incredibly grateful for the joy and laughter this ministry has brought to our church community once a month for the last several years. We are also grateful for all our teacher and youth volunteers.  They generously devoted their valuable time to share the love of Jesus with your children.
While PNO is ending, we want to keep our church members, their family and friends, community family and friends, connected and engaged. We are transitioning to a once-a-month, all-congregation fellowship activity. These events will be designed for all ages to enjoy together, including activities like: game nights, movie nights, bowling outings, and seasonal gatherings.
We will share the full schedule for these new fellowship events below. Thank you for your understanding, support, and for sharing your children with us through PNO-YF.  We will miss your child(ren’s) smiling faces, inquisitive minds, and their big hearts.  We hope you can find the time as a family to engage in all or some of the future plans for fun fellowship enveloped in the love and presence of Jesus Christ.
God’s Blessings, Gail and the PNO-YF Team (past and present)

Young Adult Fellowship

After much prayer, reflection, and discussion, we want to share an important update regarding our youth ministry program for ages 12 to 17. Due to a combination of low enrollment, persistent scheduling conflicts, and the retirement of two of our dedicated adult support volunteers who are aging out of their roles, we have made the difficult decision to end our traditional youth ministry program.
We are deeply grateful for the years of service our volunteers poured into our teens, and we recognize the challenges busy family schedules present. We also saw the dedication of your children who did attend and their need to grow in their relationship with God by learning His Word through reading, discussion, and interaction through fun and fellowship with other believers. While this specific program is ending, our commitment to nurturing your children's faith remains unwavering. To continue doing God’s will and gathering in His presence and love, we are transitioning to monthly church-wide fellowship events for all ages.
This new approach will allow our entire church family and nearby community—from our youngest children to our elders—to worship, grow, and serve side-by-side. We believe this intergenerational environment will offer a rich, supportive community where our teens can still find mentorship, build relationships, and experience Christ's love in action.
We will share the schedule for our first monthly fellowship event below, and we truly hope to see your family there. Thank you for your understanding, your partnership, and your continued prayers as we enter this new season together.
In Christ's love, Gail Achilles, Christian Education Chair, and the Adult Support Team (Pastor Ethan Doan, Anna Friedrich, Bryan Foster, Marylou and Dale Foster, and Kate Waldman)

ALL-CONGREGATION FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITY: The Fellowship Event Team at Faith tries to schedule activities for all members of the congregation—from our youngest children to our elders—to worship, grow, and serve side-by-side to spend time together to strengthen their bonds outside of the traditional worship service.  We also encourage members to bring their family, friends and members of the community to these activities.  This strengthens our ties to one another and opens opportunities to meet new people.

Lord, when did we see you...?
The purpose of the Social Ministry Team is to follow Jesus' commandment to love one another as he loved us.  To offer opportunities to our congregation to be good and faithful servants.  To share the love and truth of Jesus Christ and to offer hope to all God's children by giving of our time, our money and ourselves to our church, our community, and the world.

The Social Ministry project for October is to collect snacks for the North Penn Boys and Girls Club in Lansdale.

The North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club located in downtown Lansdale open their doors to 85 -100 children each day after school.
Because of their need for snacks, we are asking you to donate individually wrapped snacks such as crackers with cheese, pretzels with cheese, cookies, (no Teddy Grahams please), chips, chewy granola bars, fruit snacks, goldfish, fruit cups in 100% juice (peaches or oranges), pretzels, cheezits, etc. (No drinks needed.)   Please put your donations in the purple bin under the coat rack in the Narthex hallway.  Thank you!
See Mary Lou Foster for more information.

“Noisy Can” Offering – We continue to collect change for God’s Global Barnyard, every third Sunday, which will be October 18, 2026, this month
A noisy can offering is a worship service collection where members donate loose change to a specific cause. The collection is called "noisy" because the coins make a clanging sound as they are placed in the offering bucket.
On the third Sunday of each month, you will be asked by our Sunday School children to donate your “loose change” in our collection can for 141 Impact.  The more noise the better.    Of course, paper money is fine too.   This is our continuing Christian love to serve others.
This collection will continue from January through November.  In December, the Social Ministry team will decide which request from 141 Impact’s list of needs we will send the money to.
For January - August, 141 Impact “noisy coin collection” has received a total of

Social Ministry : Feast Incarnate Meal
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, several members of the congregation of Faith had an incredible experience of serving a meal at the Feast Incarnate.  It is a meal served every Tuesday night at the University Lutheran Church in Philadelphia. It is open to anyone in the community that needs a meal.  Pastor Ethan, Anne Hutnyk, Deb Hollenbach, Bonnie Staller and Sheena Navarro travelled to Philadelphia to prepare the meal and serve it. In all 81 people were served at the Feast.  This included 30 meals to two half-way houses, 15 take out meals and 36 in-person meals. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we received many compliments on the mini meat loaves and the honey-walnut cake.  We also enjoyed interacting with the people who helped to serve and who attended the meal.
A huge thank you to the congregation for the donations of boxed Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes, butter, frozen mixed vegetables, beef gravy, Dunkin Hines yellow cake mixes, eggs, chopped walnuts and honey. Thank you to Sharon Hood, Janet Hill, Bonnie Staller, Pastor Ethan and Deb Hollenbach for preparing the mini meat loaves.  Thank you to the Prunkel Family, Sharon Hood, Bonnie Staller and Deb Hollenbach for preparing the cakes. Thank you to the people who attended the Scrapbook Yard sale in March and provided funds to buy the meat loaf mix. Everyone involved was blessed by your generosity!
