Happenings at Faith in October
The Listening Life: Embracing Attentiveness in a World of Distraction by Adam S McHugh "Be quick to listen, slow to speak." James 1:19 “How would our lives change if we approached every experience with the intention of listening first? Adam McHugh places listening at the heart of our spirituality, our relationships and our mission in the world. Heed the call to the listening life and hear what God is doing in you and the world. The session for August will be Wednesday, October 7, 2026; in person/zoom at Faith Lutheran in adult education room; 6:00pm The Social Ministry project for October is to collect snacks for the North Penn Boys and Girls Club in Lansdale. The North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club located in downtown Lansdale has been in operation for more than 55 years. Their Club is open to children not only in Lansdale but in all surrounding communities each day after school. They currently serve 85 to 100 Club members each day. Club members are in the facility till about 6:30 each night which is why snacks are so important to the kids. The Club offers a wide variety of programs to Club members ranging from homework help to cooking, sports, art, and science programs, almost all of which are free to our Club members. An annual membership to the Club is only $25 but that is still a struggle for some families, however, the Club offers scholarship opportunities so that no children are left out. Because of their need for snacks, we are asking you to donate individually wrapped snacks such as crackers with cheese, pretzels with cheese, cookies, (no Teddy Grahams please), chips, chewy granola bars, fruit snacks, goldfish, fruit cups in 100% juice (peaches or oranges), pretzels, cheezits, etc. (No drinks needed.) Please put your donations in the purple bin under the coat rack in the Narthex hallway. Thank you! See Mary Lou Foster for more information. “Noisy Can” Offering – We continue to collect change for 141 Impact, every third Sunday, which will be October 18, 2026, this month A noisy coin offering is a worship service collection where members donate loose change to a specific cause. The collection is called "noisy" because the coins make a clanging sound as they are placed in the offering bucket. On the third Sunday of each month, you will be asked by our Sunday School children to donate your “loose change” in our collection can for 141 Impact. The more noise the better. Of course, paper money is fine too. This is our continuing Christian love to serve others. For more information about these exciting events check out the whole October 2026 Mustard Seed. |
